The central mission of the µNEURO Centre of Excellence is to create breakthroughs in the management of neurological disorders by a strong multidisciplinary approach, enabling new insights into the structure and function of the nervous system in health and disease.
Neurological disorders are the leading cause of disability and the second leading cause of death worldwide. Advances in imaging tools and molecular technologies have transformed our understanding of the nervous system, revealing its complexity across molecular, cellular, circuit, and organ levels.
Future breakthroughs in neuroscience require an integrative, multidisciplinary approach that combines insights across biological scales, experimental models, and structural and functional dimensions.
To harness this potential, μ±··¡±«¸é°¿ unites eight complementary research teams including twelve principal investigators, from three different faculties at ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ and three departments of the University Hospital Antwerp (UZA), with strong expertise in neuro-imaging, neuropathological research, and clinical neurology.
