Micro-credential: Crafting English: Translation and Text-Editing Skills
Course content
This course focuses on professional translation and editing skills in English at Master’s level, with a particular emphasis on contrastive analysis, text quality and critical reflection on the translation and revision process.

Learning outcomes
1. The participant can accurately execute, with proper justification, and with a focus on quality in Dutch–English and English–English translation and revision assignments in professional contexts.
2. The participant can analyze textual problems at linguistic, stylistic, and discursive levels and solve them in a targeted manner.
3. The participant can critically evaluate digital and non-digital tools and deploy them strategically in the translation and editing process.
4. The participant can explain, justify, and evaluate their translation and revision choices based on quality criteria.
5. The participant can critically evaluate text quality in relation to purpose, target audience, and communicative context.
Assessment
The assessment is based on individual and group assignments, translation and proofreading exercises, and an assessment of the process, reasoning and final product.
