Micro-credential: Strategic management

Course content

Students in this course will acquire knowledge of the basic concepts and tools of strategy process analysis and of the formation of business-level, corporate-level and network-level strategies in different industry contexts, with an extra emphasis on international expansion.

This course is based on lectures. 

Learning outcomes

This micro-credential focuses on the following learning outcomes.

1. The participant can explain the strategic dilemmas of an organization.

2. The participant can explain the coherence between the strategic questions and the structural, cultural and political characteristics of an organization.

3. The participant can analyze the utility and limitations of several strategic management techniques in various situations.

4. The participant can perform a strategic industry analysis.

5. The participant is able to answer open exam questions about corporate and business-level strategies in different industry contexts in a clear and structured way.

6. The participant is able to answer oral exam questions about corporate and business-level strategies in different industry contexts in a convincing way.

7. The participant can assess the impact of social (f.e. sustainability, environmental consciousness) and economic trends (f.e. globalization) on the strategic management and functioning of organizations.

8. The participant can point out how ethical conduct can/must be integrated in the strategy of organizations.
