Expertise

Expertise in neuroimmunology, with a strong focus on brain tumors, particularly glioblastoma, and the interplay between the immune system and the central nervous system. Research is aimed at understanding the role of (myeloid) immune cells and their contribution to tumor growth, immune suppression, and therapy resistance. A key aspect is the development of innovative, personalized immunotherapies, using induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) to generate genetically engineered immune cells. In addition, there is a strong research background in cancer-related cognitive impairment (CRCI), psychological stress, and the role of systemic inflammation in the development of cognitive dysfunction. Combines fundamental and translational research and employs advanced models and technologies, with the goal of developing novel cellular and immunological therapies for brain cancer and other neurological disorders.
