Expertise
My expertise lies broadly in the field of applied linguistics. As such, I am interested in investigating real-world language-related problems and designing innovative solutions to these. More specifically, my work focuses on English for specific purposes (medical and academic) and computer-assisted language learning. I have designed, implemented, and tested various online language-learning programmes for nursing and academic purposes. This work has been extended to the design of language-learning courses for vulnerable populations in Iraq, as well as intercultural competence training for nurse educators in Europe. Currently, I am studying the potential for using generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) in feedback practices in academic writing courses. This includes developing an automated writing feedback system, in collaboration with TEXTUA at the ¶¶Òõ¶ÌÊÓƵ, as well as exploring the use of GenAI as a multilingual interactive tutoring system to support students with diverse linguistic backgrounds to process and implement writing feedback.
