Lieke Smits is an FWO junior Junior postdoctoral fellow, conducting her research at the Ruusbroec Institute of the University of Antwerp. She is a medievalist and art historian, interested in the late medieval religious imagination and devotional practices. In 2020 she obtained her doctorate from Leiden University, where she wrote a dissertation on the influence of bridal mysticism on the visual culture of the medieval Low Countries.
