Leonore graduated as a Master in Bioscience engineering with a specialization in Cell and Gene Biotechnology at the University of Ghent in 2021. In October 2021 she was granted an FWO-SB Ph.D. fellowship to explore the influence of menstrual products with and on the vaginal microbiome. She studies this in vitro using synthetic vaginal communities and in an intervention study to explore the interactions in vivo called Luna, which is one of the daughter studies of the Isala project.
