The TACTT team focuses on developing novel, targeted anticancer strategies that specifically eliminate tumor cells and mostly leave normal, healthy cells alone. Targeted therapy is a cancer treatment that uses drugs to target specific genes and proteins that are involved in the growth and survival of cancer cells. We are convinced that precision medicine using rationally-designed combinations of such targeted therapies may achieve this much-needed progress in cancer treatment. Moreover, we focus on oxygen deficiency (hypoxia) as a common characteristic of human solid tumours contributing to therapy resistance.
