On 17 May it is IDAHOT, the International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia. Around the world, this day draws attention to the wellbeing and rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people. At the University of Antwerp, too, we are committed to creating an inclusive and safe environment for everyone. Since 2019, we have raised the rainbow flag as a powerful symbol of solidarity with the LGBTQIA+ community. We want to make it clear that everyone should be able to be themselves at our university, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientation.
This year, we are going a step further. We will be hoisting not only the rainbow flag, but also the United* AUHA flag as a symbol of connection, commitment and pride. In addition, together with our AUHA partners, we are organising a series of on our campuses between 4 and 17 May. In this way, we are working together to create an environment where everyone can grow as they are. Diversity, inclusion and collaboration form the beating heart of our community.
Be inspired, connect with others and discover what United* means to you: United by curiosity. United by respect. United by creativity. United by whatever inspires you.
