We take a closer look at the what, why and how of activation. We introduce you to a variety of activating teaching methods for both small and large student groups. After all, getting students to participate more actively in the learning process is essential for achieving your predefined learning goals. But, to be honest, that's not always how it works in reality. Sometimes it seems students do not want tot participate. We provide numerous tips to help you overcome some common obstacles.
By the end of this session you will be able to
- argue the added value of activating students;
- explain how to effectively incorporate active learning into your courses;
- identify the factors that can promote or hinder active learning.
